Medical Council of India Screening Test

FMGE, or Foreign Medical Graduates Examination, is another name for the MCI Screening Test. The National Board of Examination (NBE) administers a nationwide licencing test twice a year. Candidates who have completed medical school outside of India and wish to begin their careers in India must pass this crucial exam.

For them to successfully practise medicine in India, there is one more prerequisite. In India, they must additionally complete a yearlong internship at a medical school or hospital that serves as a teaching facility. The hospital where the candidate is completing their internship in India needs to be approved by the Medical Council of India, which must be taken into account. This internship is outdoorsy.

  • This examination is done in English only.
  • There is no negative marking in this examination.
  • The centre of the examination is New Delhi.
  • The examination occurs twice a year in the months of June and December. And that too on the last Sunday of these months.
  • There are 300 multiple choice questions in the exam sheet divided into two sittings of 150 questions each. Obviously, these MCQs are single response type answers.
  • The qualifying marks is 50% or more. This means that for passing this examination you have to gain at least 50% (or more) of the total marks.
  • The results are displayed in the official website of NBE can also be obtained from the office of NBE. There is no any provision of rechecking or retotalling or re-evaluation of the marks obtained in the test.
  • However, there is no limits or restrictions to the number of attempts in the test. You can apply again and again, if did not get success in your previous tests.
